New Chapter of Dorian's Cooperation with Guatemala: A Journey of Trust and Win-Win

A warm welcome to the engineers from Guatemala who have come to China again, this time aiming to further deepen the cooperation between the two sides.

As early as April 2024, the Guatemalan client ordered a 4,800-square-meter steel structure warehouse from Dorian, and the production was completed within just 25 days. In May, the client's engineers came to China to inspect the quality of the goods. Dorian's professionalism, service, and strong execution ability won their high recognition. However, the relatively high transportation cost at that time led the client to decide to ship when the freight cost dropped. In August, when the freight cost dropped, both sides acted promptly after determining the shipping time. The goods arrived at the destination port smoothly on October 31. The client is now handling the customs clearance procedures. The foundation components such as anchor bolts have been shipped in advance, and the installation of the foundation work has also begun. Based on full trust in the Dorian team, this engineer visited China again on October 24, focusing on negotiating the steel structure project and seeking assistance in machinery procurement. The client engineer showed Dorian team many steel structure projects and initially reached a cooperation intention of approximately 65,000 square meters of steel structure warehouses. The client engineer has completed the rough floor plan. The Dorian team will calculate the price after they complete the drawings, and the sizes of subsequent steel beams, steel columns, etc. will also be sent to the team in time. Not only that, Dorian also led the engineers to visit equipments such as roller machines, flame cutting machines, bending machines, and sawing machines. The engineers were very satisfied, and the team has also given quotations. Particularly importantly, the client is willing to become an agent in Guatemala and discuss deeper cooperation with the Dorian team. During this period, Dorian entertained the client warmly, enjoying hot pot, Japanese cuisine, and local specialties together. Both sides were very happy and looking forward to the next gathering and long-term cooperation.

Dorian's Attendance at IndoBuildTech Expo 2024, Jakarta, Indonesia

The IndoBuildTech Expo is Indonesia’s largest and most anticipated full-scale exhibition, focusing on building materials, architecture, and interior design. Dorian's team attended the event with the primary objectives of exploring new market trends, networking with existing clients, and identifying potential business opportunities. The expo this year featured over 400 exhibitors from various sectors of the construction industry and attracted thousands of visitors each day.

During the five-day exhibition, Dorian’s booth received inquiries from over 300 visitors interested in steel structure buildings and prefab houses.

On the second day of the exhibition, Dorian had a productive meeting with one of our clients in Indonesia. The client’s engineer visited our booth and engaged in a detailed discussion with Dorian engineers regarding the design and feasibility of their upcoming project.

Following the exhibition, Dorian's team was invited to visit a client’s logistics industrial zone. During this visit, Dorian and the client discussed future building plans and potential cooperation opportunities. After the discussion, client invited Dorian team visit their warehouse and steel structure prefabrication workshop. While touring the client’s workshop, Dorian found they still use manual, outdated and low efficient production equipment. Dorian showed them the advance automatic production line in our factory and projects built in Southeast Asia area, offering them high quality prefabricated steel structure, which can help reduce costs and shorten installation periods. The client was very pleased to have connected with Dorian at the Expo and expressed interest in visiting Dorian’s factory in the future.

By conversation with clients, studying Jakarta City's architecture industry and consulting with steel structure practitioners, Dorian identified a growing demand for prefabricated steel structures in Southeast Asia, particularly in Indonesia, presenting a significant opportunity for expansion. However, the difficulty in obtaining import licenses for steel may pose a challenge. Dorian will help customers find a viable solution.

BIPV, Building Integrated with Photovoltaic, represents an innovative approach to integrating renewable energy technology into building design, offering both environmental and economic benefits. Dorian has taken the first step into this new era and can provide customers with a complete set of BIPV solutions.

Background

In 2023, Dorian received an inquiry for a workshop from the client, whose initial request was rather simple: a strong and cost-effective building for a factory. Client claimed that he plan to build a tilapia fish farm, therefore, he need a factory for fish food to save the cost for fish farming, and also sell the products at local.

Designing

When Dorian contacted the client, he expressed that due to the local grid network's instability and frequent blackouts, so he decided to install a solar power system on the factory's roof. Additionally, the client wanted some offices and a monitoring room for the production line in the workshop, Dorian suggest that adding a mezzanine floor for offices and monitoring room can save the space. Responding to the client's demands, Dorian's engineers began crafting a proposal design.

The day after receiving inquiry from the client, the proposal design was completed. As the solar panels on the roof would provide insulation for the building, reducing heat by approximately 40%, single steel sheet was chosen for the workshop's roof and walls to save costs. Inside, there would be a 50-square-meter, 3.5-meter-high mezzanine for offices, resting room and a monitoring room.

The client was satisfied by Dorian's efficiency and ability to provide solution that is compatable with his solar system project. It perfectly matched the client's requirements, and the offer fell within the client's budget, prompting him to sign the contract promptly.

Production&Delivery

The production of the steel structure only took two weeks: two days for designing all the parts of the structure, and eleven days for the production and packing. The entire project required four containers for shipping—three for the steel structure and one for the solar system.

Installation:

The foundation plan was sent to the customer prior to shipment so that the foundation work has been completed before the customer receives the goods. Upon the cargo's arrival at the project site, the construction team finished the installation under Dorian's supervision and guidance. The erection process took only nearly one month. Then, Dorian’s electrical engineer provided guidance during the installation of the solar power system and ensured its connection to the grid.

700 Square Meters Steel Structure Warehouse Delivered To Chile

This 700 square meters steel structure warehouse is located in Valparaiso, Chile. Project size: 20x35x6m steel structure warehouse to store excavator and other tools. Project instruction: Q355B welded steel column and beam, black paint, roof is 50mm EPS sandwich panel with green, wall is 0.5mm single layer steel sheet with black, roof skylight panel for natural light, big electric rolling door for excavator entering. In November 2023, Dorian finished production work of all materials and contacted client to deliver the goods. Client told Dorian team that they were still applying for the building permit, and no exact time to get the building permit. Considering the issue of storage, client wanted Dorian team to help purchase one container and deliver the whole steel frame to Chile first, and leave one container of cargoes at factory until they noted. According to the schedule of client mentioned, Dorian team transported the first container of cargoes to Chile in November 2023, this container includes steel column, steel beam, roof/wall brace/bracing, tie bar, angle brace, wall panel, electric rolling door and bolts. In April 2024, Dorian transported the second container of cargoes to client, includes 50mm EPS roof sandwich panel, roof/wall purlins, skylight panel, flashing, and some tools. All the delivery work are finished in April, 2024 and client will receive the goods in June. Foundation work plan to start in June, be finished within 40 days. Next step is to erect the steel frame in July, all the erection work will be completed within 2 months.

Libya 238 Square Meters Steel Structure Completed For Oxygen Plant Assembly Work Done In October

The installation of 14x17x11.5m steel structure project had been started since the end of the September in Benghazi, Libya, and ended at the last week of October. The total assembly job lasted about 1 month. This 14x17x11.5m warehouse will be used as the oxygen plant, therefor, there is a high standard requirement for the airtightness. In order to make sure the good sealing, under the advice of the engineer, the customer chose to use sandwich panels for the walls and roofs, which is better o lot for the sealing function than the steel sheet panel.

The total height of the project is 11.5m, while the brick wall height is 8m. That is to say, the sandwich panel wall height is 3.5m. Customer chose to make the 4 directions of the wall, totally with 8m brick wall for each side.

This 14x17x11.5m oxygen plant is the phase II project, which is as the extension of the first project of the 48mx60mx15.5m of the steel bar production line. Cause customer need it very urgently. The production for this project is only 1 week,and before production, Dorian began to determine the packing time, Thus, the shipping was arranged very fast.

In order to save the cost, customer require that the shipping must be only 1 container. The usual shipping are 2 containers, because the sandwich panel occupy too much space. Once more, since the columns and beams need to load inside the frame structure of the package, and if use the structure and package, 1 container should not be enough. To save the space, workers do the loading by hand lifting. This is the best way to save the space, and eventually, in the case of meeting the customer's requirements, the installation work was successfully completed.

The assembly is very fast, since customer prepared the foundation before received the goods. Because the installers are very experienced and Dorian provided the very detailed assembly drawing and the foundation drawing before shipping. After the receiving, the assembly can be done very fast, It took only weeks to install the frame, It took several days to install the roof panel and skylight panel.

The wall panel installation is only 2 days, and this blue color of rock wool panel is chosen a lot by Dorian customers.

Welcome Client From Thailand Visited Our Factory

The client is come from Chonburi, one of the cooperated clients from Thailand.

The client was known at the exhibition of ARCHITECT in Bangkok in April, 2023, and had given two orders to Dorian after the exhibition, one if steel structure warehouse, and the other is flat-packed container house. Both of these two orders have already loaded to Thailand and received highly praised from client. There are 8 person in client party, including general manager, purchasing and shareholders. The main purpose of this visit is to discuss sole agency. Before visiting Dorian factory, the client visited another factory firstly. Dorian provides one-stop service, the factory is Dorian’s reliable partner for producing various of battery products. Client has already purchased some wall-mounted energy storage from this factory.
