Background
Customer sent the steel building requirements to Dorian company on January. The client initially planned this project to be 20x40x6m, but after measuring the site dimensions, the project dimensions were adjusted to 21x42.7x6m. The entire proposal was finalized by the client within a month, and the processing work was scheduled to be completed within 20 days.
This workshop is used to process timber. Douala has a tropical rainforest climate with abundant timber resources, which provides sufficient raw materials for our customers' factories.Douala is also the main port of Cameroon, with convenient transportation and broad market. These are the reasons why customer build the factory here.

Insulation and drainage
Heat insulation and drainage needs to be considered in the high temperature and rainy area, such as Cameroon with the tropical rainforest climate.
Sandwich panel and glass wool solution are the common insulation methods, but due to the limitation of sea transportation and materials cost, glass wool+single layer steel sheet+steel mesh are very popular in steel structure building field, mainly single- floor steel warehouse. This roofing solution can save half of container space and materials cost compared to sandwich panel, that is why most of client choose this roofing solution.
The common slope of the roof is 10-15%, in order to easy drainage, we increase the slope to 20%, so that rainwater can be drained easily, gutter and downpipe are necessary to add, the client also opened a drainage ditch for drainage and collection of rainwater, rainwater can enter the downpipe through the gutter, flow into the drainage ditch and be collected for secondary use.
Brick wall
Total height of this workshop is 6m, 4m brick wall and 2m single layer steel sheet wall. 1m, 1.2m,1.5m are the regular height of brick wall, some clients will ask a half brick wall or full brick wall due to the limitation of budget, firmness of external wall and other reasons; Some clients need full sandwich panel wall or full single steel steel wall considering the labor cost, construction time and completeness of building.
Engineer will design a suitable brick wall height based on local condition and client's need.
Package
Steel pallets need to be welded to hold all components in place before the loading work. The total weight/volume of steel pallet and goods are no more than the max weight/volume of containers, then using two cranes to lift the steel pallet into the container. This package and delivery way provides the possibility of sending large steel buildings, 20000 square meters steel building with 22 pallets will be delivered within 3 days, which will also guarantee the safety of goods during the long transportation process.
Installation
Customer got the goods and started the erection work this June. Excavator and crane needs to be prepared by customer, the other small tools like pistol drill, glue gun, rivet gun, already provided by steel building suppliers.
Installation work of flashing is important in rainy area, especially the ridge, eave, and connection place of brick wall and panel. Make sure there is no gap when installing the flashing, using the self-tapping screw to fix the flashing and waterproof glue is applied around the self-tapping screw.
All the erection work was completed in September. Thanks to our customer for sharing these pictures.
