PIR sandwich panel in Australia

Project background

The client sent inquiry to Dorian in May and asked about 75mm PU sandwich panels and EPS sandwich panel firstly . It’s used for building three cold storage shed inside of existing building. Dorian calculated quantity based on the drawing what client provided to make detailed quotation. After compared difference and cost of 75mm PU sandwich panels and 75mm EPS sandwich panels. The client asked the 98pcs 100mm PIR sandwich panels with 11.8m long finally, the quantity was much more than original drawing , as it will also be used for other function except for the three cold storage.

The difference between PU, EPS and PIR sandwich panel:

EPS (Expanded Polystyrene): Polystyrene foam is a light polymer. It uses polystyrene resin to add foaming agent, while heating to soften, generate gas, and form a foam plastic with a rigid closed-cell structure. This uniform and closed cavity structure makes EPS have the characteristics of the best waterproof effect, light weight and high mechanical strength compared with PU and PIR sandwich panel. But its insulation and fireproof performance not as good as than PU or PIR sandwich panel. The regular density can usually reach 8-20kg per cubic meter. The most common width of EPS panel is 950mm,970mm, the thickness is 50mm 75mm 100mm and 150mm.

PU sandwich panel: PU panel is also called polyurethane sandwich panel, polyurethane composite board, polyurethane energy-saving board. The correct term is polyurethane insulation sandwich panel for construction.

PU sandwich panel has small thermal conductivity and good thermal insulation performance. The density of PU panel can reach about 37-43kg/m3. The most common width is 1000mm and 1120mm, the thickness is 50mm 75mm 100mm, 120mm and 150mm.

PIR sandwich panel: PIR, also known as polyisocyanurate, is a foaming material made of isocyanate reacted with polyether after catalyst action. The common thickness and width of PIR sandwich panel is the same as PU sandwich panel. But its thermal conductivity is smaller and fire resistance are better than ordinary PU sandwich panel. So that’s why client chose PIR sandwich panel finally.

At the same time, client also planed to keep the two containers after received the goods. Dorian provided the detailed quotation within 9hours. After checking the offer and considering it for three days, client ordered to Dorian, and Dorian’s service and professionalism have been recognized by the customer. The flashing were also provided to client as the quantity what client required.

All the goods were finished in 15days and loaded in the 2x40HQ containers. Now they are on their way to the Hobart, Australia and will arrive destination within 40days. We will share you with more information if any update later.
