Project background:
The client contacted Dorian in the November, 2022 and revealed that he would need one set about 1400m2 steel structure warehouse, which was a self-use project and prepared to store some goods. The only estimated price for per square meter was asked by him initially. The elaborate proposal and quotation would be required after he readied. He was major in civil engineering in the college and so knows something about the construction industry. On the basis of local conditions, he required there was no insulation for this project. After deep communication with him, Dorian learned that his land had been ready but the construction permission still be pending...
Anyway, Dorian kept contacting with client . After two months of negotiations with the local authorities, the client finally got permission and carefully measured his own land, the final size was 60m*23m*6.5m.
Project design:
Under normal circumstance, the cost will be more economical if project span less than 25m, so Dorian team designed the whole steel frame without the middle column. The roof loading can be based on the conditions without strong wind and snow, for the project was located in the Africa. As the insulation wasn’t required for the project, the roof and wall were equipped with 0.5mm thickness metal sheet, which is the most economical type about the panels and also the most popular among Africa clients.
In addition, based on the local environment and the client's needs, the designers also made the following designs: a 2-meter brick wall to avoid water flowing into the interior during rainy days; two large sliding doors (4x4.5 meters) for easy access of trucks; transparent panels on the roof and windows on the walls to ensure good lighting performance; drainage and ventilation system - gutter was designed so that the rainwater can be drained and collected conveniently, ventilator was also designed on the roof to refreshed the interior air and achieve the effect of aeration & cooling.
The detailed layout drawing was provided to client in 24 hours working time after confirmed the size, the client was pretty satisfied with working efficiency and profession of Dorian. The drawing was also approved after four days of study. It was worth to note that the gutter was required by client to quoted was metal sheet gutter instead of galvanized gutter, because he knew the difference between them, most of clients usually choose galvanized gutter.
The definition of Gutter:
The gutter refers to the concave part between the two spans of the roof of the building. Roof drainage is divided into organized drainage and unorganized drainage (free drainage), organized drainage generally collects rainwater in the gutter and then drains it through rainwater pipes, the ditch that collects rainwater is called gutter and usually rainwater pipes and gutters are matching design.
About the Galvanized gutter, which is usually proceed for anti-corrosion treatment of workpiece surface by electrochemical principle so it has better anti-rust and good bearing capacity.
The Metal sheet Gutter is usually made of color single layer steel sheet, which have many kinds of colors can be tailored. While its life expectancy and bearing effect are not as long as galvanized gutter, they are more economical in cost.
The detailed quotation was also supplied to client after 12hours confirmed the drawing. After 6 days consideration, Dorian’s design and quotation were approved by client and the order was confirmed eventually.
At the same time, the client also entrusted Dorian to purchase cables according to his purchasing list. Dorian searched and confirmed the cable specification details with cable suppliers during three days after confirmed the order of steel warehouse. After communicated and selected with cable suppliers, Dorian team went to the different cable factory to check the quality of cables and confirmed the order of cables.
Manufacturing and delivery:
It took five working days to finish production drawing and all the production details. All the goods were finished production in 20days. As the Covid-19 and distance reason, Dorian sent pictures to client check and let client inspected the goods via video phone, he was satisfied with goods quality and the balance was paid the next day.
The 2x40HQ containers was calculated to be based on the volume and weight by Dorian engineer, and pre-packed the goods on the steel frame pallet after measured the size of goods and pinpointed the space of steel pallets, this proposal can save much loading and unloading time. Most importantly, it can avoid collision and keep balance of goods during the long transportation.
