2000 Square Meter Open Cattle Shed in Spain
Project Information: 10x200x4m open cattle shed
Project Location: León, Spain
Background
At the ending of 2024, Dorian received an inquiry from a client in Spain. The client was planning to expand his farming business and urgently needed a large-scale open cattle shed. The main goal of the project was to provide a durable and cost-effective shelter for cattle while maintaining good ventilation. Unlike fully enclosed warehouses, an open cattle shed requires only the roof structure to protect the animals from rain and sun, while the sides remain open to ensure proper airflow.
The client initially reached out with a clear requirement: the shed should be 8 meters wide with 2-meter overhangs, 200 meters long, and 4 meters high, with a total covered area of 2000 square meters. Since the function was straightforward, the main focus was on selecting suitable roof sheets and a reliable support system that could handle the local weather conditions in León.
Designing
After receiving the client’s requirements, Dorian prepared a complete design solution, including drawings and material details, within just one day. However, the client was not satisfied with the first proposal and provided more specific requests. He required that:
1. The roof panel must be 0.6mm thick galvanized metal sheet, ensuring both strength and long service life.
2. The purlins must be made of Z-profile steel, which provides better structural performance for long spans and allows quick installation.
3. The main structure should be as light and economical as possible to control overall costs.
Dorian’s engineers carefully studied the revised requirements and began a new design process. León, located in northwestern Spain, experiences seasonal winds and occasional snowfall. Therefore, the structure needed to be strong enough to withstand snow loads in accordance with European standards. While ensuring structural safety, Dorian’s engineers optimized the design by selecting the most economical materials.
The final design not only met the client’s technical requirements but also minimized material costs. After reviewing the revised proposal, the client was highly satisfied and quickly confirmed the order for the 2000-square-meter shed.

Once the deposit was received, Dorian immediately arranged production. One of the advantages highlighted to the client was fast production capability. Despite the large roof area, the entire production process was completed in less than two weeks.

In the first week of May 2025, all components were carefully packed and loaded into containers for shipment to Spain.

The cargo has now safely arrived at the project site in León. Dorian has already provided the client with the foundation plan, anchor bolt installation guide, and detailed assembly instructions. Installation work is scheduled to begin in September. The client has also expressed plans to place another order once this cattle shed is successfully installed.
