Background:
The Dorian team first found the client's request in October 2023. However, the client did not respond at that time. Several months later, the client finally replied to Dorian’s email and sent a quotation request for warehouses.
Designing:
Initially, the client requested quotations for two building sizes: 130x220 feet and 50x60 feet, both with a height of 22 feet. Dorian’s engineer provided solutions for both sizes within two days. Upon reviewing that, the client was satisfied and wanted to start the order with from the 50x60 feet building. However, the next day, the client suddenly changed his mind and requested quotations for warehouses measuring 60x100 feet and 100x130 feet, with a height of 20 feet. Dorian’s engineers made solutions again for those sizes and promptly provided quotations and technical drawings.
The sea freight cost was kept rising, the client wanted to buy and ship the cargo as soon as possible. Dorian assured the client that production would take only two weeks and showed him Dorian’s steel structure production line and advanced equipment.
At that time, the client was still comparing Dorian’s prices with those of other suppliers. Although Dorian's price was not the lowest, considering the production ability and designing professionalism, the client believed Dorian was the perfect supplier for the project and paid the deposit for the 60x100x20 feet building.
Producing and Delivery:
Upon receiving the deposit, Dorian’s engineer prepared the specification drawings for production and managed the factory to manufacture the prefabricated building. Production was completed in just ten days.
The nearest port to the client's destination was Memphis, an inland port. The cargo needed to be shipped to Long Beach and then transferred by rail. The client’s cargo weighed 24.5 tons and could fit in a 40-foot container. However, most US shipping lines only accept containers with cargo weights less than 19 tons due to strict weight regulations for road transport. After contacting several shipping agents, Dorian found an shipping line that accepted cargoes under 26 tons. This shipping company has its own railway ramp at the port, allowing the container to be transferred directly from the ship to the railway without needing truck transport.
The client has now received the cargo. Dorian will provide instructions on the foundation and erection work, and the warehouse will soon be installed at the client’s property. Additionally, the client informed Dorian that he is very pleased with the work and plans to collaborate with Dorian on future projects.
